This is the most impressive tinned sardines in spicy oil that I have had so far. This had a decent amount of heat and the sardines themselves were very meaty and had wonderful flavor. I also got a can of their unspiced sardines and am looking forward to trying those too. The heat was very strong at first but dissipated quickly. These aren’t the probably aren’t the perfect spiced sardines, but the best I have tried so far and definitely worth a purchase, great bang for buck and possibly a daily eater.

Unlike some other spiced sardines that I’ve tried (Nuri and similar), the spice flavor profile of these seems fairly even-toned, not terribly complex, in a good way. They work fairly well straight from the tin, but mixed in with some rice or maybe atop a cracker or some toast to add some more texture I think these would make a pretty good daily driver, particularly if you like a bit of spicy heat and don’t always have your favorite hot sauce on hand.

If you liked cheap, tasty, spiced sardines this tin is for you! Angelo Parodis are my daily drivers right now, but if RTG stopped stocking those I would probably consider switching to this tin. Its a well rounded tin that has good flavor, texture, and price – what more can you ask for?

This is a really good tin for the price. Similar to other Portuguese sardines I’ve tried–noticeable scales but unoffensive, reasonably firm fish. I found the flavor of both the oil and the fish to be very mild. The spiciness was not very pronounced for me.
