This is the most impressive tinned sardines in spicy oil that I have had so far. This had a decent amount of heat and the sardines themselves were very meaty and had wonderful flavor. I also got a can of their unspiced sardines and am looking forward to trying those too. The heat was very strong at first but dissipated quickly. These aren’t the probably aren’t the perfect spiced sardines, but the best I have tried so far and definitely worth a purchase, great bang for buck and possibly a daily eater.

Unlike some other spiced sardines that I’ve tried (Nuri and similar), the spice flavor profile of these seems fairly even-toned, not terribly complex, in a good way. They work fairly well straight from the tin, but mixed in with some rice or maybe atop a cracker or some toast to add some more texture I think these would make a pretty good daily driver, particularly if you like a bit of spicy heat and don’t always have your favorite hot sauce on hand.

If you liked cheap, tasty, spiced sardines this tin is for you! Angelo Parodis are my daily drivers right now, but if RTG stopped stocking those I would probably consider switching to this tin. Its a well rounded tin that has good flavor, texture, and price – what more can you ask for?

This is a really good tin for the price. Similar to other Portuguese sardines I’ve tried–noticeable scales but unoffensive, reasonably firm fish. I found the flavor of both the oil and the fish to be very mild. The spiciness was not very pronounced for me.

Really nice tin for the price. Comparable heat profile to the Angelo Parodi and Matiz spicy tins. Will be adding these into my future daily driver rotation.

All great reviews here, so there’s not much to add really.

Truth told, I was initially put off by the name ‘Bon Appetit,’ though I’m not entirely sure why. I guess ‘Bon Appetit’ has become a sort of mainstream Americanism that you may hear in a greasy spoon: “Here’s your gravy fries, bon appetit, sweetie!” Only to be followed later by: “Hey! it looks like you hated it, you cleaned your plate!” I used to think this daft banter was some provincial New England thing, but now know it’s universally American. In another review suggests from the label you’d never know these were from a Portuguese company. Moreover, ’Bon Appetit,’ as a utterance used in France, has fallen out of favor at times. https://rb.gy/g7n8v Maybe Julia Child making it a household phrase in America put them off a bit. Who knows?

Three large, plump tasty sardines in a slightly hot oil with a small hot red pepper. It’s an excellent product at a great value. (Too bad about the name.)

    4.60 fish out of 5 ???????????????? ⅗
