Had to try it once. For me, 4 stars. Very creamy, rich, smooth in texture — great if that’s what you like in a tinned fish.

Good but not my favorite, but I am less of a fan of tuna belly or fatty cuts of fish in general so it’s just a difference in taste… (plus, at this price I’d only ever buy one tin unless it was one of my favorites of all time).

This was a four out of five stars for me. What you get is a nice tin with somewhat loosely packed ventresca/tuna belly pieces in sunflower oil. The fish is quite delicate and tended to crumble/break up but this could’ve been due to my novice chopstick skills. I appreciate being able to savor the richness and clean tuna flavor. This is on par with getting tuna sashimi toro at a good Japanese restaurant. I ate this on it’s own, and also with a tomato salad with olive oil.

One reason for me to knock this review down to four stars is that I’m unclear on how this is considered to be the #1 overall tinned fish and perhaps I was expecting a bit more given the price point (I will be trying/reviewing the Gueyu Mar shortly after this one to do a comparison). It was worth for me to try this at least once and it’s TBD whether I will purchase again.
