I’m not sure what I expected when I ordered these, I mean, I love scallops, I love tomato, onion and paprik. I was not prepared for what I actually received. My partner was in the mood for Indian food so I made some (unspiced) basmati and a jarred simmer sauce, I took some of that rice in a small bowl and unceremoniously dumped the entire tin, oil and all. I’m not gonna lie I couldn’t wait to taste some scallops so I snached a few before the rice had warmed them. Delicious. Once I mixed it up and let the scallops warm, omg, I didn’t expect fresh perfectly cooked scallops but that’s what I got, just a little bit of some sneaky spice in there. Mmm, dang those were good.

Loosely packed tin…12 scallops…about the size of a quarter…in red oil…these are more mussel like in appearance then what you think of as scallops…this is not a negative…
Tender flesh with a nice chew…mellow seafood flavor…nice oil with flavors of tomato and paprika…those Spaniards love their paprika…flavors of onion…a very, very faint hint of heat in the background…in the sauce there is a gelatinous like substance that appears to be onion that has wilted in the marinade?…it’s delicious!…

This is a delicious tin, with a lot of different flavors happening…would buy again…

Had with Toasted and Buttered Garlic Bread (SKH)…DS Pickled Red Onion #2…and Mezzetta Colossal Castelvetrano Style Olives…and washed it all down with…….Willm – Cremant d’Alsace – Rose Brut – N.V

The sauce is more of a flavored oil. The scallops are not tightly packed – it only seems about half full. I took Dan’s advice and mixed this tin with warm rice. I had leftover wild rice with onions and pecans, and this suited just fine. The flavor was similar to many tinned mussel preparations, but with the superior texture of scallops. It was delicious, but I wished I had heated the scallops as well as the rice – just stirring them in left the scallops noticeably cooler than the rice in not the best way. There is more oil than you need for the rice in this tin – I recommend leaving some behind (even though it is super tasty). Overall, will get this again for an occasional something different.

This is a tin that I was excited to try as scallops are second place, right behind shrimp on my favorite shellfish list. This was also my first Espinaler tin after having doused countless others in Salsa Espinaler. It was a bit murky upon opening, but the sixteen, onion wrapped scallops were plump and slightly springy to the touch. Great texture with just a hint of chewiness and the nice sweet flavor that one expects from a well prepared scallop and the little strip of onion that was wrapped around each scallop were savory and added some contrast in texture. The Galician sauce was essentially a seasoned oil and reminded me of a Catalina salad dressing without the sugar. I felt that the sauce would be better heated up, so I nuked some mashed cauliflower and poured the sauce & scallops over the top added a spritz of lemon juice and I was a happy man. I was a bit hesitant to try canned scallops, but now I am looking forward to trying some more.

Enjoyed as part of a four tin tapas spread with family for a light dinner.

This was quite an interesting tin. I’ve never had canned scallops before, and honestly, I tend to avoid scallops when ordering seafood at restaurants and the like. For me, they’re too expensive for what you get. All that being said, this tin was good! The Galician sauce these came in was quite flavorful and, I think, the perfect combination of flavors to accentuate delicate seafood. The only thing was that there was a lot of particulate matter in the sauce that kinda clouded it and stuck to most of the scallops. I think if I get this tin again, I’ll try heating the sauce to see if it loosens this and helps distribute the particulates.

Tasty little scallops at a good price. They were tender, had the sweetness of fresh scallops, and came in a nice sauce full of onions that make it versatile to eat with rice or pasta. I’d definitely reorder!

This was my second ever tin of scallops and I really enjoyed it! The sauce was more oil than sauce-like and probably could have benefited from emulsification, which I’ll likely try next time. The scallops were small and tender. I paired this with well buttered sourdough, pickled onions, black olive spread, salsa Espinaler, mini dill pickles and manzanilla olives with pimento. Great quality for the price and will definitely eat again!

A great tin with a bit milder flavor than expected (not necessarily a bad thing). This is in part due to the sauce being more of an oil, and not super briny. Very strong undertones of paprika and onion, which tasted very quintessentially Spanish to me.

The scallops themselves were great! I had about 14-16 in my tin, each at about 1/2″ to 3/4″ in diameter. They had a nice chew to them, and delivered that additional “flavor of the sea” to compliment the sauce.
