This is one of the more pedestrian looking Ferrigno tins. Cracked the lid to the usual amount of fishiness along with a tinge of garlic to reveal three very fat fish, as in very tall from belly to back. These were almost triangular shaped from this tail to where the head used to be. The oil was much thinner than I was expecting, like an un-emulsified vinaigrette making me wonder if they added some more lemon juice that what came from the small slice included in the can. These were the perfect Goldilocks texture and held together nicely with a good bit of fat content. These tasted fantastic. Fantastic! You could really taste everything, the lemon, garlic, parsley, and salt. The best part was that nothing masked the flavor of the fish. I really liked these. As I had mentioned, the oil mixture was thin from the added lemon, but it tasted fantastic. Reminded me more of a very flavorful, brothy soup. These are my favorite Ferrignos that I have tried thus far and have recently ordered four more tins to keep in stock.

This is more of a “sardines as an ingredient” tin instead of one that you’ll want to eat on its own. The overall flavor is quite subtle unless you get a piece of the lemon slice in your bite (which fortunately, there was quite a bit hiding underneath the 3 large sardines). Texturally, this tin was not my ideal as each bite was closer to canned tuna in terms of chew, flake, and moisture. I’d have to admit that it’s very much the same dryness and surprising texture as I found in the Ferrigno Sardines au Pescadou and neither tin is perfect for someone like myself who prefers to eat fish straight from the tin. As a Ferrigno lemon & garlic tin recommendation, I would definitely choose Ferrigno a la Bastiaise over these … but, these were just fine along with some salted avocado on a piece of toast.

This is a great tin for the money. The bright lemony flavor is refreshing. Three large fish are solid quality and are notably more tender than similar sized fish at this price point. This was really great paired with some kimchi on a club cracker. An easy addition to the rotation.

I am a fan of Ferrigno anchovies prepared in this fashion so I had to try their sardines done in the same manner. 3 large fish in my tin. A little dry, but a nice flavor. I could not detect much parsley taste, but only lemon. A good product. I believe the anchovies are better.
