Very similar to the Sardines à la Pissaladière, but with upgraded flavor and even some mild-but-existing backend heat. This tin is a perfect representation of what I have come to expect out of these Ferrigno artwork tins … above average sardine quality, noticeable flavors that actually match what they claim (not to be taken for granted), plus tons of little bits under the fish to allow you to add plenty to every bite.

Absolutely loved the flavor profile here, easy to eat from the tin at room temp. Firm but not too firm, good moisture on the sardines. Maybe could have added a pinch of salt but definitely no need to add sauce or anything else. I could see this being spectacular when slightly warmed up with crusty bread, but in all reality, I will likely continue to eat it as-is because it’s that good by itself. An absolute winner here and certainly in the top 3 of the Ferrigno tins that I’ve tried. Try this!

This is a tin of decent-to-great sardines with phenomenal extras. When I opened the tin, it smelled very strongly of sweet peppers and garlic. I knew I’d love it as soon as I smelled it. The tin had 4 large sardines, skin intact and fishes whole. Each extracted from the tin without breaking and underneath there was a sizable helping of peppers, onions, and garlic. Enough to cover the sardines almost entirely. The flavor and texture of the sardines were simply “good”. I’ve had many better sardines, but wasn’t disappointed with these. A little more than medium firmness, flaky texture, but not necessarily dry. The flavor of the fish was quite mild, but the toppings more than made up for it. The oil and toppings had a bright, fresh flavor. The toppings elevated the tin from merely good to great. The Ferrigno artwork tins have generally been really good (I love their liver and sausage tin), and this is no exception. This is definitely a tin worth trying.

Yet another incredible tin of French sardines, Ferrigno really hits it out of the park with these flavors! Cracking open the tin the aromas of onion, sweet peppers and garlic greeted me. Four slightly beat-up looking sardines were packed on top of the veggies. I placed them on my usual powerseed toast and spooned the mixture on top of the fish – there was enough to give each sardine a coating. The sardine texture was nice and firm but the veggie combo just elevates it exponentially.
I don’t know why it took me so long to try these style of tins but I’m hooked – just a splendid variation away from the the usual plain olive olive, piri-piri and clove spiced tins. I’ll keep trying more varieties from this company in the future.

This is a great brand of sardine for the price and taste! Really simple ingredients that make it easy to get creative! I was a bit surprised by how small the tin was, but the extra flavors in the added spices/herbs/veggies make up for that. Quality fish too, a good bit of meat and no issues with bones. I think this tin definitely is very “French” in that is doesn’t have spice or smokiness. I’ll likely buy this tin again, given how lovely is tasted compared to other traditional sardine tins.

Three large sardines in a deeply colored viscous oil…the fish are slightly roughed up with a couple of scales…bits of onion and pepper are all thru the tin…
The fish have a great chew, with the spine of perfect firmness…just a hint of crunch…delicious fish flavor…a little dryer than expected…this is by no means a negative…you definitely taste the onion and pepper, and the oil itself is of obvious high quality…again delicious!…the heat comes on slowly from the back of the palate and tends to linger…sop up that oil and eat it with the fish!…
I ate this straight from the tin, as Helen states “Like a Heathen”…LoL…
Had some bites with Roasted Garlic Triscuit’s and a squeeze of Kewpie Mayo (Japan)…with a side of Dave’s homemade Pickled Okra…this was all very satisfying.
This tin was an affordable treat…I would purchase again.

Really good. I didn’t expect it to be spicy but it surprised me, having a great tingle to it. The onion and peppers were tasty, I wish there were even more, but it was still more than most sardines with veggie bits. I ate them straight from the can with basically all the oil.

This was pleasant surprise. As I was not sure what to expect, I sampled it straight out of the tin and, before I knew it, I’d consumed the whole tin that way. It gave the bright whimsical feeling of a picnic on a spring day with firm texture of the fish and the delightfully balanced accompaniment of the vegetables. I will I would certainly purchase this tin again and try building a toast or a salad around it.

This was my first crack at the Ferrigno brand French sardines. As soon as you crack open the can, you are hit with the smell of garlic and onion. The sardines are about the size and texture of Bela sardines. The oil is soft and silky and has taken on the flavors of garlic, onion, and peppers, along with the sardines. The flavors compliment the fish nicely. This was really good.
