Oui! Oui! C’est si bon! These are fantastic. French deenz; so hot right now, yet these bring the sweet and savory to the plate.

I really like these. Great, clean, firm French sardines, with lemon and a TON of sliced green olives. All the flavors are there. I feel like I’m eating some fancy food right now, not just some random can of fish.

Really have to say this Ferrigno brand is outstanding, such a great price for very good French fish.

4.5+ stars, easy to round up because the amount of non-sardine items in there is astounding. They give you an absolute ton of delicious lemon and olives underneath the fish. I could load up every bite and it was just about as light & refreshing as a can of sardines in oil could possibly be. The lemon was present, noticeable, not overwhelming. The olives were complimentary, mild, but still noticed as well. The fish were quite big (5, I think?) with exactly the firmness that we’re all hoping for. A few scales but not in any way bothersome. Salt, flavor, acidity, all balanced.

Quite simply, there is something *special* about this brand. The “eat at room temp from the can” ability of the Ferrigno line is staggering. You don’t need to add a single thing, yet you end up feeling like you treated yourself with all the extras. There’s no searching for the good stuff in the bottom of the tin, they didn’t hold back on any that I’ve tried. I now officially must keep several Ferrigno options on hand as change of pace tins. They have so, so many different flavors that it would be impossible to ever tire of eating them.

Plain and simple, I loved these. They’re a certain rebuy and I can’t wait to try more of the other Ferrigno tins as well.

    My inaugural tin from RTG!

Fish was great – particularly the texture. Was hoping for a bit more punch from the lemon (served over white beans and was looking for these to bring that brightness in the dish), but what was there was nice. Will be interesting to revisit after trying more variety and see how my expectations change there. Artwork on the tin was delightful.

I enjoyed this tin more than the Ferrigno tin with ratatouille. The fish was firm and large, as others have noted, and the spines provide a nice texture. I did want more from the olives and lemon – I tried the fish first on its own, and then mixed in with some rice, lentils, and parsley for my lunch. The firm texture was quite nice.

This has to be one of the more puzzling tin graphics of the Ferrignos that I have tried. A lady sardine in a red convertible being pulled over by a nun driving a Citroën 2CV with a Gendarme riding shotgun. Crazy pants. Peeled the can to reveal four fish and a muted scent. All the fish came out easily and intact and it turned out that there was a fifth fish hiding on the bottom. The bottom is where all of the preserved lemon, olives, & onion confit was hiding. These were some fine looking fish with nice pearly bellies. A few stray scales, but nothing to upset the experience. They had a great texture with a good balance of moisture and firm flesh. The flavor was well balanced from the salt and the confit provided a good bit of brightness. I Finished it off by spreading the oil and confit on a slice of toast. A delicious and balanced can that I might buy again.

These sardines are positively revelatory! An instant new favorite for me, and easily one of the most vibrantly flavorful cans of sardines I’ve ever encountered. My tin had 3 quite large sardines packed wide and flat, visually they weren’t too exciting but they look very nice and uniform. As soon as you open the can the smell of the lemon and olive bursts out at you. I’m not really qualified to speak about the quality of olive oil, but the lemon flavor mixed with the olive and sardine flavors made the oil so delicious I found myself dipping my bread in the can to get every bit. As others have pointed out, the lemon and olive bits are really what make this can, and they don’t skimp on them. I wouldn’t recommend adding any flavors to this can, and maybe just serving it with something like french bread or in my case an English muffin, something to just allow the flavors to comingle for a bite, not alter the taste in any way. The fish itself have a nice “feel” to them, a bit on the firm side, but easy to break apart, not mushy in the least, and I found them to have pretty soft spines for their size. This might be the best price-to-flavor ratio I’ve encountered yet in the world of sardines. I hope you give them a try!

Great quality sardines with a nice, firm texture, large and plump size, and good accompaniments. I do wish the flavor of the lemon and olives was more pronounced, but squeezing some fresh lemon juice over it all helped bring out the flavors. 4.5/5

I found myself scraping out the preserved lemon and olive ingredients after finishing up the sardines. What a combination of flavors! While i enjoyed the sardines and side ingredients straight out of the tin on my virgin experience, I might try the next tin on top of a toasted sour dough bread slice or on a bed of baby spinach leaves (or a mild flavored lettuce) with a spoon of quinoa to soak up any and all of the flavorful oil.

These are fairly large. I liked the texture a lot. I took half a Portuguese roll and made a pocket for a sardine and smothered it with the olives. Delicious lunch! Simple, elegant and satisfying. Will definitely buy this again.

This was a 3 out of 5 for me. For me I may have been expecting a bit more based on the other rave reviews. I may get another can to confirm my rating but reason for my rating is that the most memorable part of the tin was the olive/citrus oil combo… and the fish was just secondary.

The sardines here are very firm, a few scales (not enough to push me away, and I’m very new to sardines), and there were 4 rather large pilchards in my can. I do think the oil is a little lacking in flavor, maybe my can was a little short on lemons, but that flavor only slightly came through. There was a nice onion flavor that complimented the slight brightness from the lemons. I added a few drops of lemon juice to mine, which made a big difference. Was a good tin. I’m not sure if I would buy this one again, but am definitely interested in their other varieties.

I really enjoyed this tin! Cracking open I was presented with three large sardines – the fish aroma was muted with hints of lemon and onion. The fish were nice and firm and there was a generous amount of confit. The lemon wasn’t as noticeable as I’d thought it would be but was still pleased with the background essence. The green olive and onion was a magnificent compliment to the sardines and I spooned out every last bit to place on the fish. I’m amazed that this was so good straight out of the room temperature tin, it didn’t need anything else (except the toast I had it on). I look forward to trying other Ferrigno tins to find a favorite.

These are everything they claim to be. If you do not like lemon and green olive dishes, you will probably not fully understand this can, but you should try it anyway. I am looking forward to when I can have these again.

These sardines were phenomenal! Like other reviews mentioned, I opened my tin to receive 3 firm, large sardines with a less fishy odor thanks to the preserved lemon and onion. I enjoyed this tin without any additional cooking, as I paired it with garlic za’atar roasted potatoes! I’m so glad I ordered two with my last purchase, as I’ll be saving the second for a special treat. The tin has enough flavor on its own to be paired with rice or a crusty bread, I imagine – but pairing it with za’atar was a true game changer for me, and I highly recommend trying this tin with similar flavor profiles.

Honestly bought them for the delightful tin design, and wasn’t too sure what to expect of them. When i opened it, i was greeted by a slightly fishy aroma, and 4 sideways pilchards staring up at me, semi-loosely packed in the oil.

Upon turning them over atop a dish, i found a whole preserved lemon in the oil, along with a flurry of sliced olives. I ate it atop some brown rice, and found the fish themselves had quite the punchy flavor. A little saltier than some tinned sardines, but bursting with flavor and easy to pull apart with chopsticks. I’d say they’re a little strong to eat on their own. But like a well flavored sauce, they themselves can season whatever you put them atop. And much like the note with the tin suggests, that flavorful oil is worth saving.

These were so good and definitely the favorite in a tinned fish board I made. As advertised, the oil is delicious and should be completely devoured, either by sopping it up with bread, or a salad dressing, etc. I thought it was perfectly seasoned and I will order it again!
