Absolute gem. Wow. The heat level here is a solid medium that builds up, a little more than I expected and just enough to give some nice burn to the back of your throat. The sardines are moist and massive (similar size to standard Matiz sardines) with a soft-but-not-too-soft texture. Seemed to be a half-step up in fish quality from my beloved Ferrigno artwork tins. I liked the texture here more than the aforementioned Matiz. As usual, Ferrigno didn’t disappoint with the mix-ins … there were a *ton* of peppers and onions on the bottom that made each bite a joy. Plenty of peppers to go around. Absolutely delicious by itself at room temp and also unsurprisingly great on a saltine.

I’m trying to think of a spicy sardine in oil that I like better than this one … and honestly, I’m not sure there is one. This checks all of the boxes for me in the same way as a Nuri spiced tomato, and that’s really high praise … it’s an amazing tin. Buy!

Upon opening this tin I was present with 4 intact fish in oil. Fish came out of the can in one piece despite being on the softer side. A decent amount of peppers below the fish and noticeable but not overpowering heat. Beyond heat I did not find this tin overly flavorful. The fish was not fishy and not salty. I enjoyed these on crackers with some Italian hot bomba sauce to add some more heat and flavor complexity. A solid tin I am glad I tried but likely will not frequent as I prefer other spiced dines available at a similar price point.

Throughly enjoyed this tin. There we 3 large, meaty sardines paired with a smattering of tender chilies. To me, the spice level was just enough to hit you in the back of the throat and make you have a bite of crusty bread (which paired incredibly well with this tin), while not overpowering the gentle fishy flavor of the sardines. Added another run to my cart right after finishing.

Really fun tin! These are some big healthy sardines. Nice and firm. Spice level was just right with the chiles. Poured the whole tin in with some cauliflower rice and it was great. Would definitely buy again.

Four plump sardines greet you at the open. A slow burn leaves you wanting more. This feels like one of the dryer Ferrigno tins I’ve tried, but the oil and chilis help with that.

I’m genuinely struggling with the scales though. I don’t think these are descaled at all, and I’m trying to tell myself that it’s good not to waste all that collagen. They kind of disintegrate and meld into the flesh, so it’s in my head.

These were pretty large sardines when compared to most other Ferrigno tins that I’ve enjoyed. I have to say I was a little disappointed at the level of spice in this tin, which is the entire reason I’d buy it. If you prefer things quite spicy, this isn’t the tin for you. That said, the sardines were high quality. The flavor is great, getting that chili sweetness, mild heat, high quality oil, and solid sardine flavor. I didn’t dislike the tin, but I don’t think I’ll come back to it.

This was a rather enjoyable tin! Honestly I bought these thinking they were going to be another version of sardines in chili-infused olive oil, imagine my surprise cracking open the tin. Was presented with four large sardines swimming in a vibrant orange oil and the aroma of cooked peppers and garlic in the Ferrigno style. There was enough peppers and onion at the bottom of the tin to coat each sardine as I placed them on my usual toast. Didn’t really detect much of a hot chili sensation, was more of the sweet red pepper taste. Nevertheless it was a nice experience.

Large, firm fleshed fish. The pepper and chili is present in every bite and contributes well to the savory flavor, but not overwhelmingly so. As is custom with this brand, the fish are tight in the tin without a large amount of oil. I will reach for these again.

Beautiful, meaty sardines in a slightly spicy oil with sweet onions and peppers in the flavorful oil. However, in spite of the other review pointing it out, I truly was not expecting how scaly these guys were going to be – for that reason alone I don’t think I’d buy it again.
