In the US the fight over which mayo is the best for a tomato sandwich rages between Hellman’s and Duke’s. But the truth is that the best mayonnaise in the world is made in Japan. Yes, it does have a bit of MSG, but it has no high fructose corn syrup. What makes it the best? Only yolks used, and a unique blend of vinegars. This is one of only a small handful of food products our house is never without, indeed, is never without one in the fridge and two as back-up, because  we wouldn’t even risk being out of it.

Please note: there is also a Kewpie that is made in the US which is not an identical product. If you’ve tried the version made in the US, you have not tried the best.

Please also note: if you’re an aficionado of Japanese mayonnaise, these bottles have the single-hole top, not the multi-hole top. We are told that top is not exported at all.
