Smoked herring in a tin is all the same, right? No.
For my tastes, this is about as good as it gets for tinned smoked herring. Beautiful caramel-colored smoked flesh backed by charcoal and silver colored skin. Large filets, filling the tin. Perfectly smoked, flaky, and super tasty.
I ate this over a bowl of warm rice with a fried egg on the side. This presentation needed no condiments – it was just right.
When I want some smoked herring, I don’t typically think about it – any old tin will do. This particular tin spoils that for me – now I have to think about specifically wanting a tin from Mary Manette. I’m okay with that.
