This was my first foray into sardines, and I chose them for the skinless/boneless attribute. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but to my unrefined palate they had a similar taste and texture to nicer grocery store canned tuna (e.g. Wild Planet or Safe Catch). A bit salty so I’d probably pair them with something like rice next time. Nice amount of protein!

So you’re interested in sardines but want to dip your toes in…or just find the idea of bones icky! *shudder*. These are a GREAT way to jump into the realm of dines without much barrier of entry. I’ve had a few boneless/skinless variety before, but none of them held a candle to these. They hold up and are firm, unlike the mushy grocery store finds. They are a part of the “Four “Sardines” That Will Change Your Mind About Tinned Fish” grouping, and I would agree that they should be. Do yourself a favor and prepare to have your mind changed!

Every Minerva tin I’ve tried has been delicious and this is no exception. They were beautiful fillets, nice and firm, and easy to serve. I will absolutely buy these again.

The tin contained four pieces nestled in the tin with oil. There were still some small pieces of skin on mine but this was minor and didn’t affect my enjoyment of them. Perfect texture, not too soft or too firm / chewy, with a nice flavor. A simple but tasty tin.

This was a very enjoyable tin of sardines. The pieces were in solid pieces, but not too firm. The pieces were tender and had a bit of a buttery flavor. No bones or skin to be found. The oil was a bit thin compared to others, tasted mild. There was a fair amount of bits left in the oil which I poured on some fresh bread. A pretty solid tin and I’d get it again.
