Cut pieces of small whole mackerel in oil. Earlier versions of this tin were emblazoned with the tagline: “Taste of Japanese Mom’s Cooking”. While we love the soy sauce and miso versions of this product, we really like how simple it is to open a can into flash-fried vegetables to add some protein and umami to the dish. A little hot sauce and they’re great on crackers, too.
