The flavor of the flesh is very, very good…excellent quality…classic distinct “fish” flavor…you know when something just tastes good!…
Delicious Olive Oil…clean natural taste…with just a hint of salt…perfect…This is going to sound stupid but the oil has a greenish gold color…it looks like olive oil…
I had several bites with the Espinaler Appetizer Sauce…Excellent!!…this sauce is the bomb…I had bites of Fish + Sauce + Dieffenbach’s Kettle Potato Chips…so good…
    These are the best Sardines I have tried so far…are they worth $6.50 a tin?…..well Nuri is a artisanal operation…hand caught…hand cleaned…hand packed…as they have done for 100 years…….and that Olive Oil…

This was a very mild smelling can of fish and quite attractive to look at upon opening. The skin was mostly intact and had a very shiny, foil like appearance. Four fish tightly packed but they came out easily and intact. Just a few scales floating in the oil, but very easy to put aside. The first fish was quite strong in fishy flavor but the other three were mild and all had a soft texture. I can see why people like them, but I found them to be a bit under seasoned Nothing a sprinkle of salt couldn’t fix. The oil was quite nice and I finished it up with a slice of sourdough bread.

First Nuri I have tried. I was surprised to see scales on the skin, but they were nearly imperceptible in the mouth. These sardines are large, meaty, and savory. The oil is delicious and compliments the sardine wonderfully. Very filling and the texture is fantastic.

Poured the remaining oil and bits onto some toasted bread, which was also excellent.

Highly recommended — I will be purchasing these again in the future. Excited to try the other flavors.

These are just really good sardines.

The tin itself is wrapped in a papery a film, which makes this humble food seem a little bit more elevated when you’re eating it (though, admittedly, maybe not the most environmentally friendly).

I got four nice size sardines in this tin, packed in a hearty amount of olive oil. The oil itself is light in color and flavor so it works well poured over some boiled potatoes or a piece of toast. Will purchase again.

First timer with these. Was greeted by beautiful hombre skin that had a gradient of grays. Surprisingly these were pretty girthy pieces!

The spine had a substantial crunch. Quite a few fatties in here! The olive oil is light, and each acted like a little sponge, essentialy soaked up the remnants of the tin.

Would I seek them out? No. Are the enjoyable? Absolutely. Middle of the road and not too salty. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either.

We’ve seen these for years but hesitated to purchase them for various reasons such as expense, wanting to savor the anticipation of a future tiny luxury, or, perhaps even fear that they might be over-rated. Wow…they live up to their stellar reputation … large, almost shimmering golden deens with perfect firmness and versatile flavor. We found their flavor shines best when simply presented over short-grain brown rice or on thin slices of toast. Yum!

Simple, plain, tasty. It’s not really a tin to savor on its own (like the spiced version) but still delicious. Very meaty, great flake with medium-soft texture. Moisture levels were ideal as there was not a dry bite to be had. As Dan mentions above, they are not salty at all so I did find myself longing for more seasoning … but that’s a simple fix. For me, these are not quite at the level of the Nuri spiced tin but it’s easy to see that these could be a perfect sardine for someone watching their salt intake and/or for a big ol’ sardine sandwich. If you enjoy giant sardines like these, you must go try the Sardinha Lightly Smoked tin next.

Comparable to Angelo Parodies or Belas. Slightly dry, I had 3 fish in mine. There is a YouTube video about the factory posted by Insider Food. Not a stellar can, but decent. The quality olive oil stood out to me.

I watched the Nuri factory video and ordered 3 different flavors. I just loved each tin. The overall Nuri experience has been been wonderful. The Nuri Sardines in Olive Oil were large and flaked up nicely. The skins shimmered as if the olive oil was freshly poured over them a minute ago. These were great! I am a repeat Nuri fan for sure. 5/5!

Big, tender, tasty fish. I’m still new to “big” sardines (as opposed to sprats) but these are as good as I’ve had. Compared to the smokier sprats I’m used to, these have a little more “actual” fish flavor, kind of a canned tuna note. The oil is tasty. I’d probably go for the spiced ones over these, they’re a bit on the plain side.

It’s known that the Nuri Sardines in Olive Oil have been GOATed, so I had to try once and for all. I was not let down. Now, they are simple in flavor, but I think that’s why their reputation is so good. There were two big sardines in mine and they were very clean tasting and not dry like some sardines can be. The olive oil is delicious and a perfect compliment to some toasty bread. I added a squeeze of lemon to brighten it up a bit. A really good go-to, simple sardine.

What can be said about Nuri in Olive Oil that has not already been said? The quality of the tin seems ubiquitous.

Perhaps this perspective may be helpful to someone though. I have never really been a fan of the larger size sardines. I must have had a bad tin of them at one point, but I’ve had an aversion and have pretty much always gotten sprats. I was apprehensive about trying Nuri for this reason, but their reputation proceeded them and I gave it a go. My tin had 3 sardines and they were very enjoyable! I wouldn’t have any issues with the larger sizes now and I’m excited about all the new tins I can try.

I’ve heard the Nuri sardines were firm and expected it, but I was still presently surprised by the firmness, especially considering the size of the fish. It broke apart in nice chucks for crackers, but did not fall apart.

Overall I’m very pleased with this tin. My 1 year old enjoyed them too! I have the spiced tin next that I can’t wait to try.

I’ll never stop liking my sprats, but Nuri have converted me over to the big boys as well!

These are a beautifully simple, tasty pilchard. Delicious oil, firm but still soft. They’re not too fishy or salty – great for a daily driver!

This is a tin of great tasting fish. These sardines have a very pure and natural taste, which is complimented by the oil. I did find myself missing the salt, but I wouldn’t detract anything because of that. Rather, I think it would make this tin even better for using as an ingredient to a meal. The fish is tender but not mushy. Also, after watching the videos linked below, Nuri seems like a great and responsible cannery.
Admittedly, and this is my own fault, I did feel kind of disappointed after reading all of the glowing reviews. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with this tin! However, I would caution prospective customers of setting expectations too high.

Very impressed with this tin. It was my first time trying Nuri and now I can’t go back to the store brand. There were 3 big chonkers in the tin. They are nice and firm and have a taste that just doesn’t compare to your run of the mill sardines. Definitely a must try for anyone who appreciates tinned fish.
