This tin was delicious! The drawing on the package was appealing and cute and the fish inside the tin was a good amount! It looks like the pictures shown in the product listing, with a generous amount of fish and visible flecks of the oil additions with no large pieces. The amount of fish feels like a great deal for the price and the taste was mild but good with no strong fishiness or smell. I had it over a salad and used the extra oil as my dressing. While I couldn’t pick out any specific flavor of olive, pepper, or herbs, it melded together to create an appetizing taste that I enjoyed. It felt light and I have no complaints. I would be happy to enjoy this tin again.

Excellent tin of mackerel. The seasoned olive oil begs to be balanced with an acid like seasoned vinegar. This with pickled red onions in (red wine vinegar, rice vinegar, white vinegar, and sugar, pepper, salt) is a match made in heaven.

Great tin! Very comparable to the King Oscar Mediterranean mackerel (which is high praise). Not many olive slices/pieces in the tin, but the fish felt a tiny bit higher quality and the depth of flavor a touch higher than KO. You get a slight mackerel chew here but the texture is very, very good and the moisture is much better than almost all other mackerel.

As I’ve come to expect from Ocean’s, this is great. I didn’t taste it side by side with KO, but I have it just barely below the gold standard KO Mediterranean. If you love that tin, then you need to try this one.

Love the price points and flavors of Ocean’s tins. Always knock it out of the park and dont break the bank.

Although a little soft they still had a nice texture and chew. Flavors are very well balanced with nothing really being a star ingredient. Highly recommended tin and will continue my journey with Ocean’s products.

Yet another great offering from Oceans! If you’ve ever had the King Oscar Mediterranean Mackerel consider this to be an upgraded version. You get a nice serving of fish for the price and the seasonings were noticeable but not overwhelming. Worth trying out!

A very nice tin of mackerel. It was very light and I loved the smooth texture. I recommend it in something light and acidic, like a salad with a bright dressing.

Things I liked include the price, very attractive, and the fact that the promise of pepper was kept–this is good and peppery. Good solid flesh and the flavors hold up very well to collard greens and the jalapeno-garnished jasmine rice I fixed up as a bed for the fillets.

Less to my liking: Bones, many bones, and some sharp little needles, so preparing my lunch required a level of care I’d not previously experienced in any can of skinless/boneless mackerel fillets. I realize that this is a natural product and that there will, naturally, be variations between tins, but in addition to the surprise boniness, not a single olive tidbit was to be found. Not a huge deal, of course, since the fish is the focus, but I was looking forward to the other goodies–the prize in the box of Cracker Jack, so to speak.

I will buy again, with fingers crossed though for fewer tough bones and perhaps a couple slices of olive. If I discover my experience was an isolated one, I’ll see if RTG will let me amend my review.

I loved this tin. I do wish the flavors weren’t so light. The flavor potential is so close. The mackerel was tender and delicious. Nice chunks too! Definitely repurchasing this. I recommend giving it a try. The Espinaler sauce really elevated this tin. I had a small bowl of jasmine rice with this tin.

This was real quality. Meaty and moist, real nice blend of flavors. The herbs taste fresh. I think this would work perfect in a tuna salad situation.
