Such a clean fresh taste especially for mackerel. Hint of jalapeño is very nice. Boneless and skinless. Larger fillets than I’ve had in a tin. Will definitely reorder!

Bear with me. Go get a box of Lipton Onion Recipe Soup & Dip Mix. Ideally it would already be present in your house as a pantry staple, but maybe you had company last night or didn’t have anything else to eat for breakfast, so now you’re out. Mix it up with some full fat greek yogurt (sour cream purests dont @ me) and make the first layer. Maybe in a clear bowl? It’s about to get aesthetic. Next layer: combination of sautéed mushrooms and spinach. Third layer: tin of this insanely good Ocean’s Mackerel Fillets with Jalapeño. Sit back with a box of triscuits and let the serotonin flow. Or honestly, I used those silly mini-peppers and they were fine, but don’t be me.

Seriously, even if you cant break the dairy/fish glass ceiling (really worth it though) this mackerel is so darn tender, moist, and flavorful it’s 100% worth a try. Everything I’ve had from this company is bomb. As far as canned mackerel, I’ve found them to be consistently better tasting than your run of the mill brands. And really at a price you can’t beat. Agree with George, the heat level could generously be described as a “hint,” but you still get actually decent jalapeño flavor.

Very impressive tin with darn near perfect mackerel texture & moisture. Not spicy – let’s call it 1.5 out of 5 spiciness – but it has enough jalapeno flavor to really notice and enjoy. Even had some little bits in the bottom of the tin to top each bite with! Seasoning was on point and ready to enjoy this directly from the tin, nothing else needed.

Very similar texture to KO mackerel, which I say as a huge compliment … no odd chewiness like Patagonia, no dryness like Minerva. Ocean’s is quickly becoming one of my new favorites as I’ve not been let down yet. The price point of this tin makes it an instant favorite and an absolute no brainer for me to always have on hand.

These were very good! The jalapeño adds a very subtle flavor but there’s no heat. The texture was firm. Overall would absolutely recommend this tin! I ate this with toum (Lebanese garlic sauce) and plain chips.

This was a very nice tin of mackerel! Got several nice fillets with a muted aroma – could make for an inoffensive lunch at the office. The fish had a nice meaty texture and had no dryness whatsoever. The jalapeño was more of a background spice and the seasonings were spot-on, making this a product you can directly eat out of the tin.
As mentioned in a previous review, this did remind me of the King Oscar jalapeño mackerel with the quality kicked up a notch. A very worthy tin to have on hand, especially at this price point.

Not spicy at all, with a jalapeño flavor that shows up when invited to the table. A bit fishier than I want, but that is to be expected at a five dollar price point. I recommend sampling all of Ocean’s mackerel varieties for a daily lunch driver that will deliver every time.
