We love the look of these skin on anchovies for presentations where the silver skin will shine.

It’s not clear exactly which Ortiz product or products were reviewed by worldbestfish.com, but anchovies by Ortiz were ranked #9 on their Anchovy list and #64 on their Overall list.

At one time these were shipped with lovely tiny forks to assist with removal of the fillets. Sadly, current shipments do not include that piece.

95g jar

Pictured in caesar dressing, in puttanesca sauce, and gildas.

As a young boy, my dad got me into pizza with anchovies.

    Friggin’. Loved. Them.

I have no idea what brand they were or anything like that. But I can tell you they were salt packed, smelly, salty, and always the cause of mom yelling at Dad about it.

Ok. These are those same salty sardines fillets, but Mr. Ortiz like some kind of fishy saint, or sainted fish raises these babies up to some different level. If you like the Centos brand, you’ll LOVE these.

Don’t get me wrong, these were absolutely eaten on top of cheese pizza slices. And the pizza was all the better for the experience!

These fillets like all the Ortiz offerings are expertly handled. They still had skin on one side of the fillets. Fantastic. Mello. Not super salty, but still brings all the sardine you need.

    Go getcha some.

These are SO good. The skin being on makes them way more presentable, and they look fantastic on this greasy pizza. I’ve enjoyed putting them on a hot pizza, so they almost dissolve on top. Then, I’m forced to chase bites that are adorned with the ‘choves because I crave their salty, fishy goodness. They’re incredibly clean as well, with no whiskers in sight whatsoever. They’re so good that I feel almost disrespectful throwing them on a pie. They should be incorporated in a way that guarantees they are the star of the show. Tragically they are very pricy, but I’d say they’re worth the treat.
