Ramón Peña Sardines in Olive Oil 30/35, Gold Line, Especial Aniversario

$15.00

Conservas Ramón Peña is a premier producer of fine canned seafood. Hand cleaned, prepared, and packed treasures from the Galician Rias, Atlantic Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea are aged in can to perfection.

Produced in 2020 to commemorate their 100th anniversary, these bear a legally-mandated “best if used by date” of 2023, but are high quality enough to be treated as a vintage product–now perfectly aged.

Identical product is also available in alternate packaging, while they last, as Ramón Peña Sardines in Olive Oil 30/35, Gold Line.

Eat these delicacies straight from the can or use to explore traditional Spanish seafood recipes.

The best sardines from the Galician Rias, Atlantic, and Mediterranean are selected at port for canning. Sardines are cleaned, toasted, then packed with olive oil. Serve in can or on crackers with mustard.

Wowzers. These really are delicious, but these won’t be my go-to’s because of the price.
I just don’t have any complaints – nice and firm, delicious oil, pleasant flavor.

These are tasty enough to eat straight out of the can. My girlfriend and I were a bit sad when we finished them.

If you don’t mind the price, or wanna splurge and have a slightly elevated sardine experience, these will get the job done!

These small little deens were unbelievable. Perfect texture, perfect salt level and perfect fish flavor. Saved this tin for a tinned fish party and I’m glad I did because the sardines are so good they must be shared! Everyone seemed to agree this tin was the standout of the night. This is a perfect tin for newbies or people looking to treat themselves. Haven’t been able to stop thinking about this tin and will definitely be ordering another one to do a side by side with the Ramon Peña 20/25 deens. If you’re on the fence about ordering this tin, do it!

Enjoyed as part of a four tin tapas spread with family for a light dinner.

These deens… are honestly crazy. No spice, flavorings, gimmicks, etc to help them carry the weight of their pricetag, and yet, they stand proudly and fill the shoes their reputation makes for them. The flavor of the fish is excellent. The presentation is simply beautiful, the way all the tiny tiny fish are braided in two layers in the can (my family literally gasped when I opened the tin). Firm fish, impossibly small, perfect to top an artisan cracker. These are just wild. I’m definitely going to grab another one of these at some point to keep as a special occasion tin. Bravo, Ramón Peña!

Wow. I don’t know what to say other than perfect in every metric. Out of the tin, a perfect texture and a primally satisfying meatiness on the level of tuna. Having these on saltines or club crackers with herb cheese and capers is literally one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. You actually get quite a lot of fish for the price, so the cost isn’t as crazy as it seems.

Got this in a “Surprise Me”. These were packed full of rich and umami flavor for the small size of the fish which I was actually a bit surprised at, I ate the top layer straight from the tin but I felt like after a while I needed something else added for added texture and lighter taste so I ate the bottom layer of deens on top of some toast with whipped cream cheese. They were layered delicately on top of eachother and the skins of all of them shined, which is one of the things I love about sardines. Sometimes they’re almost too pretty to eat, I was specifically fixated on the top part of the fish because I love the coloring of these little deens. It’s cool because I actually didn’t realize these were vintage until now reading the description of this. I feel like these are definitely something you would want to share at a tinned fish friend night, as they are an anniversary special.

So many tiny, well packed, fish. Great texture without any mushyness and nice firmness to them, and a light delicate flavor. The lack of additions made the olive oil taste stand out. Most tins don’t have skins that are this intact. I didn’t realize this was a 2-layer tin, and the volume of fish made the price way more palatable.

Now these are the cats pajamas….I don’t know if I can add anything more to what has already been said about these. These were absolutely incredible and not one thing wrong or even one complaint. I also took the left over oil and replaced some of the olive oil with this oil to sautee the garlic and pepper flakes and it gave my Aglio e olio pasta a fantastic taste. Would definitely order again….pricey but nice for somethiing special

Yum right out of the can. These will convince your friends to like canned fish! I chopped up some pickled peppers (no affiliation with Peter Piper, LLC), olives and cherry tomatoes, drizzled a nice fig balsamic over it all…and then couldn’t stop spooning them into my mouth! Crisp bread was also used.

Fantastic. Definitely one of the better tins I’ve had lately. Had to stop myself from just eating them all straight out of the tin while prepping my meal. Even just from a presentation standpoint, this tin is really special. Peeling the lid back revealed such a lovely sight of perfectly intact shiny fish all neatly layered together. No fishy smell or flavor, just pure deliciousness and perfect texture.
