Some beautiful honkers here. Three beefy boys with beautifully silvery skin. They can be plucked from the can with chopsticks, but are still very moist. Everything about these is light. The smoke level is light, the salt level is light, the oil is on the lighter side. Even the wrapper is light blue! Someone needs to free him from that chimney. Next time these are definitely going on some crackers with cheese, but they were great straight from the tin.

Enjoyed these on some crackers and am happy to report that the smoke is not at all overpowering (too much smoke is a no-go for me) and that the ‘deens themselves were big and delicious. Definitely recommend these if you’re looking for a quality smoked sardine that won’t break the bank.

Beautiful, GIGANTIC, meaty. These are comparative in size to Matiz but a nice level up in flavor, texture. When I’m eating a massive sardine without any additional flavors mixed into the tin, this Sardinha tin is very much what I want – moist and flaky, mild but still noticeable flavor, medium chew with slightly softer outside surface. I didn’t necessarily notice a ton of smoke but there was a delightful underlying complexity in each bite that I might attribute to it.

Similar in quality, flavor, and overall enjoyment to the Ferrigno La Bonne Mer Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Fleur de Sel. For my personal tastes, you can’t go wrong with either this/Ferrigno and I haven’t found any better (yet?) at this price point for large sardines. Recommend!

Solid tin, good QPR. My can had four beautiful sardines swimming in mild olive oil. They were moist, flavorful, and lightly smokey. If you like the “crunch” of spines, these are for you. The skins were a little roughed up in spots, no scales. This is a good one to have on hand as a versatile sardine to eat straight, or dress up in a dish.

My first Sardinha tin, and I must say I am quite impressed! The sardines are large and plump, though texture-wise softer than expected when pulling them out of the tin. They deformed a bit but I wouldn’t quite call them “mushy.” In terms of flavor, the smokiness is present, but light. This applies to the salinity too, and I actually did enjoy that they toned it down, as I usually find most smoked sardines to be on the saltier side. Overall I’d say this is an above average tin, and similar in quality to Jose Gourmet’s smoked sardine offering.

These were lovely. My tin was so generously packed it was almost hard to get the fish out! Tender, super moist fish and the smoke flavor is subtle without just disappearing. They were great on their own and with a little dab of spicy mustard to add a bright pop to the smoke flavor.
