It’s official – Sardinha has the best non-Güeyu giant pilchards, what a satisfying lineup of sardines they offer. I didn’t get much truffle scent when I first opened this but I’m happy to say, you do get a mild truffle essence coming through upon your bite. Enough to notice? Yes, it is – if you were blindfolded and had to identify it, I think most of us could still arrive at truffle. And while I could have used a *touch* more of that essence, I actually don’t mind that they were on the side of subtle since truffle is so easily overpowering. Texture was flaky, on the soft side of medium just as consistently as Sardinha always does. Not too soft on the chew, no mush at all and you still know that you’re eating sardines. Moisture was perfect, not even a hint of dryness. If you’re looking for new flavored sardine tins to try, you gotta try this one along with some other Sardinha standouts (oregano, curry, spicy tomato, escabeche) … just writing this review is making me want to go open another. Try this!

Honestly i’m not sure what truffle tastes like so I was not sure how to describe the flavor despite that it was slightly earthy, but I could tell it was a bit different. The sardines were really good though, they were very meaty, flaky and moist but for the most part this just tasted like your usual delicious Sardinha deen since the different truffle flavors were pretty subtle.
