I wanted to like these because I appreciate their design aesthetic. Found that their consistency was substantially mushy. Flavor wise they were somewhat metallic, as if I ate the tin instead of the fish. Even the oil was thin, and not very tasty, and left me feeling like it’s was cut with water. Not a big fan. While I dig the can cover design, that isn’t enough to justify another tin.

I enjoyed this can, although I did prefer the Sardinha small sardines better. I thought these had a nice texture and flavor, and even though the tin art doesn’t impact the taste, cool art makes the experience all the better, and that is true here as well. These would never be my go-to tin of sardines, but I will still order a can now and again. Worth trying, but if you’re going to try only one, go with the small sardines.

I haven’t had any of the seasoned tins from them yet, but I look forward to trying them.

Nice packaging but cumbersome to open. Sardines look great, can see some fins but not a lot of scales. Beautiful two tone colors. Flavor is good. A slight taste of the ocean, not quite fishy. Olive oil is pretty good quality, not overly flavorful. Flaky flesh. For the price, there are better sardines in olive oil out there but not bad. Reminded me of French tins. This redeemed the brand for me as my first tin from them, lemon, was a dud. Will check out other tins from them.

Something about Sardinha sardines just … works for me. No, this tin isn’t perfectly beautiful or a flavor explosion but it doesn’t need to be. I love how Sardinha is able to achieve excellent moisture without going too far into softness, there’s still some integrity here in each bite. The seasoning is pretty spot on and I didn’t find myself looking to add any additional salt. Worth noting that my tin had quite a few scales and the fish definitely weren’t meticulously arranged when I opened it up, but I don’t mind such things and still enjoyed it overall.

I’d rank this tin just barely behind Ati Manel Sardines in Olive Oil but they’re very similar in taste and quality. If you’re into big ol’ unflavored sardines that don’t try to hide behind fancy spices or sauces, this one won’t disappoint you at all.
