What we love about these plant-based products is that they aren’t trying to recreate the seafoods they’re named for, they’re more inspired by them. The goal here isn’t (and your expectation shouldn’t be) to replicate the seafood, this isn’t the Impossible Burger of tinned fish, the goal is to bring to you plant-based options that will play nice with all of the existing recipes, serving styles, and accoutrements of the tinned fish experience.

This “snow crab” is made with enoki mushrooms and seaweed. We find it on the sweet side, which is entirely consistent with the crabmeat flavor profle, and the straw-like stems of enoki require no extrusion or other industrial modification to force them into imitation. We sampled them simply forked onto crackers with a gorgonzola and it was delicious.

    I liked the taste, but think I may have messed up on the delivery of this one. I ate this on a bagel with cream cheese and green onions. It tasted good, but I had some trouble with the texture. It kept getting stuck in my teeth. I think it would be a lot better mixed in with other ingredients instead of placed on top of the bite.

    Stunningly great. Ate it on some brioche mini-toasts and it tasted even better than I had hoped. Nice brightness and seasoning, ideal mushroomy texture, good oil. Seemed like a small portion upon opening, but honestly, it lasted a long time as we put 5-10 strands on each bite. A little flaky salt on top … wow.

    Not only is this a reorder, it’s a “going to add it to my cart right now as I’m writing this review” item. At this price, it’s not a daily driver but is absolutely perfect for a special occasion that is a lot of fun to share. It’s a fantastic tin!

    This is such a fun tin and I was so excited to try it! Immediately on opening you are greeted by little chopped up pieces of enoki mushroom. When eating it’s not an exact replica of texture or taste of crab but a very subtle tasty flavored tin. The whole family enjoyed it on a seacuterie board! 4/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
