Opened this treat after reading lots about it online. Great texture on the octopus, meaty without being too chewy. The flavor was unique, very buttery and very dill forward. The lemon was less present. Definitely a unique one to try as a special treat.

I ate this with a few other tins of fish with friends, and I had a REALLY hard time sharing after trying it. The texture of the octopus is like no octopus I’ve had before; it is perfectly tender, and the smaller pieces were not chewy at all. The can looks small, but they really manage to pack much more octopus in there than I was expecting. The sauce was creamy and had wonderful flavor, and I ate it straight out of the can.

It’s definitely one of the pricier cans I’ve gotten, but I’d be happy to pay that much for it at a restaurant, and it is definitely a restaurant quality dish straight out of the can.

That and the packaging is adorable and I will be hanging it up in my house somewhere.

Delicious and incredibly flavorful! The octopus itself was tender, although the can was made up of primarily smaller pieces with only one really meaty-sized chunk, but the texture was perfect. The sauce here feels like the real surprise — it was super flavorful and rich without feeling heavy. I heated it up slightly and ate it over rice, meaning that after I finished the octopus itself the rice left in my bowl was coated in the delicious buttery fish-infused oil. Would’ve been enhanced even more with a squeeze of fresh lemon but alas I did not have one on hand.

Next time, I think I’d opt to enjoy this can on a piece of toast instead so the smaller pieces of octopus don’t get quite so lost in the rice, but it was very tasty none the less.

The flavor on this one was a bit strong for me, even after heating it up, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this tinned octopus had fatty pieces and wasn’t as chewy as the tinned octopus I am used to eating. I feel like this would be pretty good with some rice, avocado and a fresh lemon squeeze, but I just ate it from the tin as is. The packaging is honestly my favorite thing about this tin, because of how adorable and colorful it is. It’s very visually appealing and even had a fish pun on it which was fun to see as I was opening the package for the tin.

Absolutely delicious. The lemon/dill butter this is in is probably the tastiest tin juice I’ve experienced. I warmed the can for a few minutes in a “keep warm” oven, seared the octopus chunks in a pan, and tossed them back in the tin for serving. The meat has a nice chew to it without being chewy and a pleasant, mild flavor. I think it’s a more interesting flavor than the squid I got with this order. I will probably get this again as a treat or as a gift for someone.

Decided to give this a try as I love octopus and had heard good things about this tin. The octopus had a great texture and you get a good bite on all the pieces. The butter/dill/lemon sauce was really tasty and complemented the octopus well. I served this over some risotto which was a good call IMO, the rice soaked up the sauce really well and it ended up being a really well rounded lunch. Obviously at 17 quid a tin this isn’t something I could purchase all the time but I do appreciate that they do pack as much meat as they can in these cans, and the quality really is there

This tin was a real treat.

Small/tiny, tender pieces of octopus in a rich, fatty, creamy butter sauce. Slightly vegetal/ herbal, but no earthiness at all.
There was no chewiness to speak of and each piece was bursting with brightness without almost no lingering.

I served it over mirin and rice vinegar quick pickled onions and chopped preserved lemons, which is over short grain rice. I topped with with Malden sea salt and furikake.

This was a real treat and I am tempted to try it again!

This was very tasty! I took some advice from others and piled this tin on a bowl of hot rice and mixed it in. I did cut up the octopus pieces, as they were quite large, but they were also very tender and meaty! The sauce was very buttery with a nice bit of dill flavor, however there wasn’t much lemon flavor. I did add some lemon juice to balance the sauce a bit and mixed in some Korean pickled radish to add a pop of acid and crunch. A very nice treat I’d be happy to purchase again.

4.5/5 for me! This was my first tin of octopus and I was blown away. I love ocotpus in general, love to order at restaurants and have experimented with cooking it at home as well. I was so impressed with the texture of this tin – great bite but not rubbery at all, quite tender, it really wouldn’t be out of place at a solid restaurant. Flavor wise, this can absolutely be eaten out of the tin, although I found that a little bit of acidity definitely helps (the advertised lemon flavor is present, but quite faint) – I served over a linguine with lemon pesto and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seems like it would also be a great candidate to be served on a toasted sourdough with some pickled red onions. Will be ordering some other tins of octupus to compare against this – but its a really strong first contender!

Wanted to love this because I love kombu but I found it to be way too salty. I just did not like the flavor. My husband loved it so if I bought it again I might add some lemon like other reviewers suggested. I go agree that the texture was absolutely divine, not rubbery at all!

This was one of my favorite tins I’ve had. I never like octopus its usually wither overcooked or slimy and never worth it, but I decided to give this a try since I heard good things. I’m so happy I did because I would say this is the only octopus I have genuinely adored. I heated the octopus in the oil/butter it comes with and poured it over toasted sour bread and it was incredible. Can’t wait until it comes back in stock!

Lovely tim, was my favorite from my first order! Octopus has amazing texture. At with rosemary crackers, and roasted sourdough that I used the oil from the tin for
