DELICIOUS. Top of the charts for mackerel texture, moisture. Unbelievable medium flake that is nearly unmatched by any other mackerel I’ve had. They truly nailed the cook on this, it’s a very special tin overall.
This is a *great* sauce with perfect thickness, smoothness, & flavor. But … is it mustard? If I ate this blindfolded, would I have any clue that it was supposed to be mustard sauce? No. I don’t think I would. The mustard is *extremely* mild, *extremely* faint. Despite the missing mustardness, it’s one of the best sauces I’ve had in a fish tin. If it had the same level of mustardnicity as a Rügen Fisch mustard herring tin, I’d type this entire dang review in all caps.
Should you buy this? YES, 100%. Everyone should try this tin, it’s amazing. Should you plan to add some extra mustard to the tin when you try it? Definitely.

This was a really great tin of mackerel. The fillets were meaty with enough moisture and flakiness to break apart slightly. The sauce had mustard overtones but didn’t take center stage, almost seemed like more of a hollandaise.
Definitely one worth trying again!
