Wild-caught cod and hand-packed in Galicia, Spain, this tender, flaky tinned cod has a clean, delicate flavor.

Prepared in the traditional style with only Spanish olive oil and salt, it is ready to eat right from the tin. Try it with just a squeeze of lemon, and/or on a slice of crusty bread.

    The pieces of cod in the tin I opened were just as good and delicious as any cod I’ve ever had.

    With most of the tinned fish I’ve had being sardines, mackerel, and anchovies, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this cod. Opening the tin presented some thick filets pieces filling the inside of the tin, surrounded by light yellow oil. Digging into the tin, I was able to fish a good bite-sized chunk out and sampled it as-is. Perfect. The fish is light, moist, flaky – this is the way that cod should be.

    I ate the cod simply on crackers. This simple presentation may have been improved upon with a light squeeze of lemon, but I couldn’t stop myself to do more than continue to pile pieces onto a series of crackers.

    If you live somewhere where you can get cod, you can likely get it cheaper than this tin. You may not be able to cook it well, or get it cooked this well, so it you want to know what a perfect few bites of cod can be like, give this tin a try. If you can’t easily get cod, this tin is worth a try.

    I’m not a huge fan of fresh cod so I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this tin, but it really confounded all my expectations. From my experience, cod usually needs a lot of help flavor-wise and it’s not easy for me to achieve a perfect texture when cooking. With this tin, being packed in olive oil really highlights the delicate taste of the fish while the oil-soaked flesh is lush and rich but still retains that meaty firmness that cod is known for. This tin goes into my buy-again list for sure.

    So simple, yet everything that I could have wanted. Ideal flake & texture. Subtle but pleasant flavor. Very very healthy as well. I could have easily enjoyed it on its own with lemon and salt, but it was an even better fit in some spicy ramen. Would be awesome in cioppino or over some lemony beans. I’m astounded at how perfect this cod was.

    No way around it, this is a tin that I always plan to have on hand in my pantry. The texture, moisture, and flavor are brilliant and it’ll work as a protein in a hundred different applications. Surprised and impressed … it’s a winner!
