I love mussels and I really love these mussles. The smoke is fairly light, the mussels are always well trimmed, not mushed out or too chewy and the oil is nice enough to use on top of your salad as a part of a dressing. These are ones that I buy fairly often.

These are quite good mussels, firm texture and a complimentary hint of smoke flavor. Definitely want to pair with something bright and acidic to balance this out if you’re having a tin for lunch.

First time trying these and they’re delicious! Not even remotely related in taste/texture to the smoked oysters I’m familiar with. Subtle smoke, great bivalve flavor. Ate straight out of the tin this time, but would be great with pasta or in a chowder.

I’m not sure if I’m just not used to the texture of smoked mussels, but I didn’t love the texture on these. I prefer something a bit chewier and more tender, but these felt a bit too firm/almost chalky. Maybe I just didn’t have a good tin, because I haven’t seen them described that way in other reviews. The flavor was very good, definitely a subtle smoke like others have said. I ate them straight out of the tin with some lemon and hot sauce.

Very good, easy to eat and there’s a ton of mussels in this tin. Texture was excellent, flavor was mild but delicous. I could have used a little more smoke but take that with a grain of salt … I love seafood with *tons* of smoke in. Tried a little Espinaler sauce on these and it was fine but didn’t really elevate it much. On a cracker with a little Maldon salt on top – perfection. You don’t need anything else. The price on these seems pretty fair for what you get, these will likely end up as an every-other-order rebuy for me.

“`This was my first tin of mussels. I love mussels though, so I had high expectations. I won’t mince words, this tin is perfect. At first, I thought the mussels would be far firmer than the freshly-cooked version. That was not the case. The texture was strikingly similar to a cooked mussel. The smoke flavor was very light. A bit more than some “lightly smoked” sardine tins I’ve had. What impressed me was that the smoke was overpowered by the flavor of the mussels themselves. I’m still a bit shocked as to how good these things taste. The tin was packed with mussels and felt pretty indulgent. I had a few straight from the tin before I consumed the rest atop some fresh potato chips from the local grocery deli. It was a real treat. I will absolutely keep these in the rotation.“`

This was my first tin of mussels. I am very impressed with this product. The mussels were uniform, firm, and not overwhelmingly smoky. The olive oil and broth mix is not heavy. It has that hint of the sea taste and compliments the mussels firm texture. I am glad I chose this standard broth flavor of Patagonia mussels as my first tin to try, and can now compare other varieties to these.

Classic in terms of what to expect from Patagonia. Clean mussels with little to no fishy after taste and a broth like sauce. The smoke was mild as other reviewers notice and it’s definitely different from what I’d expect from “smoked mussels”. Nevertheless tasty and enjoyable 🙂
