Hey, a new fish to check off the conservas chart! To start off, the fish were pretty nicely packed, with minimal skin tearing issues. The oil was filled with visible spices, and very mild. The fish itsself was very mild, and firm. Definitely more mild than traditional mackel or sardines. Overall, a pretty tasty tin!

Tiny mackerel! The perfect introductory mackerel for someone who already loves sardines. I had no idea that this tin was going to have many little fish inside (as opposed to a giant slab of mackerel). They look very much sardines and I’m not sure I’d be able to say otherwise in a blind taste test either … but yet, they have that flavor of mackerel at the saame time. They have AMAZING moisture for mackerel, especially compared to tins that are 1 piece. Flaky with absolutely zero dryness – no hiccups in sight. The basil is present but not a dominating flavor, it’s a perfect balance. Immediately this tin is one of my favorite mackerel tins and it is an ideal gateway into mackerel for anyone on the fence.

This was a rather unique tin. To start off, the fish were beautifully packed and the oder was muted, this could make for a decent office lunch. The texture was firm and the taste was similar to sardines although a bit milder. Did notice that the spines were larger than a comparable sized sardine. The basil was present but more of a background note. I was intrigued enough to try this again in the future.

The tin contains 8 small fish of varying sizes in a delicious oil. The flavorings and oil are of high quality, making the fish very tasty. As they are mackerel, they are oilier and have a stronger taste than many other tins. Nonetheless, the quality of the product is excellent. If you are fond of mackerel, you should definitely give this product a try.

Nicely packed tin of fish, similar to sardines but I would say more mild. I did not enjoy my tin that much as I felt it was a bit metallic-y tasting. the basil flavor is basically nonexistent but you can see flakes of dried basil throughout the tin.
