Spiced Nuri is for scale and not included in this set.
The entry point for many people into the world of Portuguese tinned fish. These are big 'dines, and meaty. Simple and classic, but not what we would call refined. Expect to see some scales and spines (for some that's a feature not a flaw). We consider these to be a decent middle-of-the road tin.
125g tin (4.4 oz)
Pictured tempura battered with ginger mayo and scallions.

Spiced, here, means chili pepper (not blazing hot, just enough to let you know it's a hot pepper, as well as some pickled vegetables and a bit of clove. If you're looking for a great pair of tins to compare, try these side by side with the Nuri Spiced Sardines in Olive Oil to triangulate your flavor preferences.
The term "hot" shouldn't scare you away from these. The heat level is widely considered to be on the mild side. There is some heat present, but it is not going to make you want to go chug milk or anything. Try these tossed with pasta or mixed into rice. Or just eat them straight from the can, we're not here to judge.
This is as basic a tomato sauce as you'll find. We highly recommend tasting a little bit and then having the confidence to add some spices to it.
Pictured warm over cauliflower hummus.
Big Portoguese 'dines in the perfect sauce for rice, or even rice cakes. A little fresh scallion will knock the bite out of the park. Also pairs great with Lao Gan Ma Chili Crisp.
Pictured on wild rice with its own sauce and pickled carrots.
The term "hot" shouldn't scare you away from these. The heat level is widely considered to be on the mild side. There is some heat present. Perhaps you've tried the spiced sardines and didn't care for the pickled vegetables and the clove? These are for you.
Pictured mashed with apple cider vinegar and served with cracked pepper and saltine crackers.
Lightly smoked tuna in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. We find most smoked tunas to be too dry to recommend, but this one seems to strike the right balance for us.
105g (3.7oz) tin
Lightly smoked mackerel fillets in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Just a gorgeous tin, inside and out. Adds just a hint of smoke, which rides along perfectly with the mackerel flavor profile.
Lightly smoked boneless sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. If this doesn't wow and convert a friend or two, it might be time for new friends.
Lightly smoked trout fillets in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Simple, elegant, lip-smackingly smokyfatty. Some tins require the use of new words.
Lightly smoked salmon fillet in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Perfectly cooked, mildly flavored, this tin may redefine how you think about salmon.
Never used can lids, showing their age, but still cool as cool gets. These are likely from the 1940s, and would be great coasters, or oil-catching tin serving trays. Dozens of uses!
Including showing your friends that tinned fish has been around longer than TikTok.
Does not come with the can of Nuri, that's just to show the size of these...they're big!
