Conservas de Cambados is among the best brand of canned seafood you can get. Their product line has everything that lives in water in a tin wrapped in their famous netting. I think you can even get canned mermaid from their cannery now and again.
This tin was a treat. Teeny tiny baby sardines, my tin was size 24 so they got a few extra in there. But in doing so, the fish got a little broken up. The flavor and texture were fine, these were very tender, but they were a bit banged up and many had trouble coming out of the tin…but out they came all the same.
Baby sardines for this price and quality don’t exist, so you better just…
Go getcha some!

I love the presentation on these. You know you’re getting into something gourmet and masterful. These little ‘dines are salty, firm, and have a nice chew. The oil is flavorful and hasn’t saturated the fish too much. They’re great on their own and would serve as a good example for a high standard of product. They might be slightly higher on the salty scale than some peoples’ preference, so they could do well on a cracker with some other additions to cut that salt level. I’m thoroughly enjoying them straight from the tin!

This was really something special. Tightly packed and seasoned simply with just the right amount of salt for my taste. Ate this one straight from the tin, no condiments required. Cost more than my average tin but totally worth the splurge if you’re looking for something new.

Holy smokes this was an impressive tin! Beautiful little fish, nice and firm and perfectly seasoned. I ate these on some crackers with a Thai basil pesto and the tin disappeared before I knew what happened. Fantastic alternative to some higher priced small sardine tins, I miss this one already.

Really beautiful tin to open up. There are a TON of little sardines in there, and they are arranged nicely & shining brightly. Very high quality & the size & consistency makes it a great option for making an appetizer to impress! I’ll buy these again and use them on small slices of baguette to make something pretty & delicious. We used it for the NYT Pasta con le Sarde recipe and it worked perfectly for that recipe too

Visually, the inside of the tin matches the elegance of the packaging. You really get a hiiiifalutin experience for the eyes as these shimmery fish are some of the best-looking small sardines around. Medium texture, medium moisture fillets that had no need for additional salt whatsoever. Above average depth of flavor but not as much unique personality as some competitors (Pollastrini, Paco Lafuente). I enjoyed this tin straight from the tin and will probably do the same next time, give or take some vinegar-based hot sauce. Overall, a very satisfying tin that’ll be prized by all sardine purists.

I’ve been holding on to this tin since my first RTG order and finally decided to crack it open now that I feel I have some tinned seafood experience under my belt. This is my second foray with a “gourmet small sardine” tin and I was not disappointed whatsoever. I almost felt bad cutting thru the netting to get to the tin, it’s packaged that beautifully. The sardines themselves were immaculately packed and were so nice and shiny without any blemishes or other signs of rough handling. The texture was firm and had a smooth consistency. The olive oil was creamy and was perfect drizzled on my sourdough toast. I ate half of the sardines straight from the tin they were that good – maybe I’ll deduct a quarter point for having noticeable saltiness. The rest I placed on that toast with the olive oil.
All in all one of the better tinned seafood experiences I’ve had in a while and I’m hooked on small sardines now. Even though this is a ten dollar tin I can see myself having this periodically. 4.75/5 ???? rating.

After a disappointing encounter with another brand’s conservas, we consoled ourselves with this thoroughly lovely tin. The shimmering, pristine, toothsome wee’uns needed no embellishment, although a squeeze of lemon wouldn’t go amiss. Grabbed a hunk of bread to mop my chin & discreetly slurp up a bit of the mild but savory oil. It dribbled, I squealed: busted! Discretion never was my forte. But I’m doing fine in conservas consolation.
