An excellent accompaniment to smoked fish, especially in these cold winter months. The cabbage is cooked to a nice halfway mark, still retaining some nice texture to remind you what you’re eating. The tomato is more than a background note and brings a little sweetness to the party. The real star of the tin are the mushrooms as they add a perfect textural element. I warmed this tin up, added a decent amount of salt and pepper, then put some smoked mackerel on top. Very hearty, very satisfying. I’d absolutely buy this one again if only to try it with some Riga Gold sprats … I think that would be even better than the mackerel. Worth the purchase!
