This is a really solid offering from Oceans. The curry has a mild spice and a big flavor, as good as most simmer sauces that I have tried, I had it on warm bread and that was delicious but I regret not putting this on some spiced up basmati. It was hard to tell because the sauce was so opaque but it seemed like one large filet that took a little work with the chopsticks to flake out onto my bread, nice and firm with a great flavor.

This tin was pretty great! Mackerel was tender and not too salty. The curry sauce was flavorful but a tad watery. I consumed this beautiful combination straight from the tin but would definitely recommend a carb as the base to really soak up all of the awesome sauce! If you’re thinking about trying this, just add it to your cart. You won’t regret it!

This tin is one of my husband’s favorites. He tends to enjoy most of his tinned fish over white rice, and this tin was perfectly suited for that. The curry sauce is flavorful but not overpowering and the mackerel was of good quality and flavor as well!

I’ve never had korma curry but this caught my eye due to the nice illustrations on the package. When I opened it, what greeted me was a nice big piece of fish covered in sauce (just like the listing showed). I had some leftover baked potatoes I needed to eat so I put the tin over this… Normally I would have gone with rice but it worked well together. The potato soaked up the sauce well and the fish flaked apart nicely for easy eating. The flavor of the sauce was very mild, what stood out to me most was coconut flavor. As I’m writing this after finishing my meal, I’ve noticed some lingering mild spice. I didn’t notice any strong particular fish taste and the texture was just the right amount, not mushy or too chewy. Overall this was a good tin and at $5, couldn’t ask for more.

Didn’t love the fish, but the sauce was delicious, and the combo makes this useful for a quick and easy meal. Had it over jasmine rice with a fried egg.

Great over a bed of rice and a teaspoon of chili garlic paste.

I had this over jasmine rice. Lots of flavor from the sauce. Mackerel pieces were nice. I will definitely buy this again at this price.

My first can from Oceans, and man was it a good one. Fish is firm, and the curry sauce is excellent. Had it warmed up over rice, just stick the can in some boiling water for a minute or so, and it’s perfect. I’ll be snagging these every order from now on.

Really enjoyed this tin. I was a little uncertain what to expect, so I kept it simple, serving with warmed french baguette. It worked well, but as others have mentioned, rice might be the best bet. If you’ve had korma curry before, the sauce is true to type with good spice and coconut flavors. At $5 it’s a great value. Will definitely be getting it again.

This was my first Ocean’s tin, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The korma curry definitely steals the show here. Really enjoyed this served with rice, as per the suggestion in the tin description and comments left by other reviews. The mackerel fillets are also of excellent quality. Looking forward to coming back to this tin in the future.

Very unique, yet approachable. The curry is mild enough here that I think the vast majority of people could enjoy this. The texture of the mackerel was on point – just as you’d expect from Ocean’s. A nice chew without chewiness, some flake, solid moisture. I couldn’t help but want a *little* more flavor from the curry sauce but I get why they didn’t. This was a really enjoyable tin over some rice. Between this and the Sardinha Sardines in Olive Oil with Curry, I’d pick Sardinha because it packed a little more oopmh … but regardless, this is a tin that deserves a try.

I enjoyed this mixed with steaming hot rice! The fish was flaky and meaty and the sauce was SO delicious! My only complaint was that there wasn’t extra sauce! Will definitely buy again!

Wow I was really impressed by this tin! Had a nice piece of mackerel, the flavor and consistency was what I expected from an Ocean’s offering, which is to say excellent. The curry sauce, although a bit mild was surprisingly good! I had a small bowl of sticky rice mixed with a little chili crisp, the entire tin went into that. With a side of kimchi this turned out to be an amazing lunch.
Fabulous tin of mackerel for its price point (if you enjoy curry at all that is) and I’ll need to order more to have in the pantry.

Solidly packed tin of mackerel fillets, that are completely coated in curry sauce…
The fish is perfectly cooked with a nice chew…moist…the mackerel is not fishy at all…you mainly taste the mild, but full flavored, curry sauce with the sweet spices to the front, cumin, ginger, allspice, etc….hints of cayenne…complex flavor profile…be sure to get every drop of the sauce…Delicious!!
There is a ton of flavor in this little tin…even though the fillets are tightly packed there is a lot of sauce for those who like to dump a tin on rice…Great Value!…Too purchase again!…
Had my tin on Garlic Parmesan Triscuits, and a couple of Gilda’s, washed down with glasses of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superior.

Absolutely delicious – I served this over warm rice with mushrooms, a century egg and some mixed vegetables as a quick lunch and I was blown away by the taste! I did add some salt and pepper for my taste preferences, but highly recommend it!

Very, very good–fine, tender fillets in a lovely, mild curry sauce. I’ve learned me lesson with various sauced-tins (mustard, tomato sauce, etc.) and bathed this can in very hot water for the 8 or 10 minutes it took me to organize the rest of my lunch. When I cracked open the tin, I poured the whole thing onto a bed of jasmine rice and sauteed greens. (One happy side-benefit of warming the can, all the sauce just tipped right out, easy-peasy.) The korma curry sauce is super-duper coconutty, which I was too dim to expect–I remembered “curry” but didn’t keep “korma” in mind. But it’s mighty good, perfect as a topper for a meal.
Perhaps worth pointing out in case anyone avoids dairy products: Although korma sauce is very often yogurt-based, this product is dairy-free. Yay!

Delicious! The fillets are firm enough that when mixed with rice it doesn’t just disintegrate, but not so firm that you can’t easily break up them up. There is the perfect amount of sauce in the tin. Makes a great meal for a very affordable price, will order again,

Another of my favorite tins to have with rice. Plenty of mild delicious curry sauce and firm fillets. More fish than I expected in the tin. Great to keep around as a tinned fish change of pace.

I had this on top of some white jasmine rice and honestly it makes for a pretty good meal! The mackerel is buttery and not too overpowering, the curry sauce also has a lot of flavor but it is a little bit more watery than to my liking. The only thing I feel like the sauce needed was a kick of spice to establish the curry flavor even more. It’s a simple easy to go snack that you can turn into a full meal as long as you have some rice around.

Had this warm over leftover Jamaican curry rice, with hummus, pickled shallots, and chili crisp, and it was a a terrific quick dinner. The curry itself is nicely sweet with the coconut milk and ginger but not too rich. As some have noted, it’s a thinner sauce (eg compared to Jose Gourmet’s version) but I quite liked the consistency.

This was a yummy tin, a good one for beginners or an easy meal. Lean, firm fish that was a tad dry. The curry sauce was really nice! Heavy coconut and ginger flavors with a touch of sweetness. I agree with other reviews, some spice in the sauce would kick this up. The sweetness of the sauce became a bit much.
I had this tin with rice and collards. The slight bitterness of the collards paired really nicely with the fish and sauce.
Solid tin: 7.5 out of 10.
