    If you’ve ever had foie gras before then you’ll be very familiar with the texture of this cod liver. Unlike duck liver, this is isn’t gamey, or fishy at all! If you’ve had ankimo at a Japanese restaurant, this is closest to that. This one is slightly smokey in flavor with just enough salt to bring out the rich, creamy taste. I enjoyed this on toasted bread, topped with raw red onions and a bit of cilantro. Next time, I’ll try this on some salt and vinegar potato chips.

    This was my first time ever having cod liver. My son (22yrs) was home and he wanted to try it as well. We sampled on saltine, as well as thin sliced baguette. We both enjoyed our first taste, the second tastes were even better. My favorite was on the soft bread as it absorbed some of the cod oil. I also topped one with a nice mustard, as the RTG packing note suggested. My son liked the texture combo on the saltines. He also noted the smoked flavor was slight and not too strong. We are both fans, and want more to have on hand. This was very satisfying and filling even though we shared it. So good! 5/5

    Absolutely the best! Officer-smoked cod liver exudes freshness and creaminess, with a subtle smokiness. The lighter touch of smoke doesn’t diminish the experience; it adds to the clean and rich flavor profile. The accompanying oil is equally noteworthy and deserves to be preserved and eaten. I will keep this tin available to me all the time and I highly recommend it.

    DELICIOUS! My favorite cut in a sushi restaurant is ankimo (monkfish liver) – this is the closest thing out there! Absolutely no ‘fishy’ taste, and amazing in some ponzu sauce with a touch of grated gringer and green onion on top! Also amazing to spread on crackers with some kosher salt. A favorite tin for sure.

    This was really good. I was surprised how good it was. Its for sure my favorite tin I’ve had for this price, maybe just in general but I haven’t tried that many yet. I had it spread on sourdough toast. The texture is super soft and creamy.

    The texture was probably the most memorable part about the cod liver for me. They were smooth, buttery, and spreadable. I ate them with crackers and they were pretty good. I didn’t really taste the smokiness that others mentioned. A very unique canned product to taste.

    First time eating cod liver. I am glad I ordered 2 tins as I devoured the first one in one sitting. Delicious on some plain saltiness. I will get a little creative with my next one. If you enjoy liver from animals and poultry, you should try this product.

    This stuff is marvelous. It’s rich and creamy with some salt, brine, and smoke flavors in there. I found that I preferred it on a more plain cracker with a few slivers of pickled red onion – you don’t need more salt, but some acidity really makes it shine. Both teens who tried it with me approved, so it’s going into the rotation to always have on hand.
