This is about as far from big box store tuna as it gets. It might even be good enough for your cat. Haha, just kidding, nothing is good enough for your cat. We like to eat this while telling our cats, “You wouldn’t like this, at all, trust us.” If you’re not going to eat our tomatoes out of hand like apples, and you’re not going to make an open-faced tomato sandwich with mayo, then the only other way we recommend you eat them as a platter of arranged slices topped with ventresca and a drizzling of the oil from the tin.

    The pieces of tuna belly vary in length to fin in the oval can but are uniform in thickness and are even consistency throughout. Unlike other tuna belly tins I have tried, the fish is consistent without some parts being more or less fatty than others. This is a mild step up from tuna that isn’t tuna belly in that it is a bit less dry and doesn’t blow me away in any way. The taste of the fish and oil is subdued eaten by itself and as an ingredient fades away into the background of the dish.
