If you’re new to tinned fish (like I was), this is a great place to start. Every single one of these cans showed me a different side of tinned seafood to explore. Based on Dan’s suggestions as well as the educational papers attached to each box I now have a long list of tins I want to try next sitting in my cart! I was so excited about my first box I even got the address of a friend of mine so I can send these as a gift, the world needs to know about the magic of tinned fish!!

Dan is super thoughtful with these boxes. I am still new to tinned fish so I let Dan pick out some starters for me. After my first order, I realized that I had some developed some preferences so I added a note with what I thought of the first box he sent and what I would love in the next one. Needless to say the second box has been amazing. He took all of my requests into consideration, and I’ve tried some tins that I would otherwise have never tried. This is DEFINITELY a good way to try new things, as it very easy to get stuck just buying what is familiar with you. Let them give you some good options to start off with giving them an idea of the kind of fish you do like and they create a box from that. And I’ve tried Mackeral, Garfish, and about to try some canned Cod & Anchovies for the first time! It super exciting and if you’re open minded and enjoy fish, you can’t go wrong with enjoying a surprise~

Recently I ordered my first surprise me box and was not disappointed at all. I love the idea of having a mystery box of tinned fish, allowed me to try some tins I probably would have never chosen myself. The package same with little recipe cards, serving suggestions and it came with no plastic packaging with I think is a plus. I would say the surprise me box is definitely a beginner friendly box if you are just venturing into the world of tinned fish. 10/10
