After warming these in the tin in an oven for a few minutes I discovered that the tin became softer as the pull tab no longer had the rigidity to puncture the can, so operator error but that led to many a poke and prod with odd kitchen tools to extract the oil and pescado from said tin. Not a fishy stink to be found here from either the oil or the fish. Wonderfully flaky meat, for me the ideal size pilchards, large and meaty at the front that tapers to a smaller, slightly denser meat at the rear. Quite a few scales here, and some of the sturdiest, easiest spines to pull from the fish that have just a bit of crunch to them. Oil is silky smooth with a mild flavor. Overall a subtle elevation of all the basic qualities an unadulterated sardine possesses.
