This tin was an easy snack, I ate it plain with crackers and alternated between both Espinaler and a habanero-based hot sauce. The fish were fully intact and beautifully packed. The package claims 8-12 fish, and I indeed received 11 full, plump sprats. The skin was shiny and consistent on each fish. The bones and spines were barely noticeable, and though these fish were delicate, I was able to easily break them in large halves on a cracker. The fish flavor was mild, and pleasantly so. The lemon flavor was okay; it was slightly too “chemical”/artificial for my taste, and so far I prefer the Matiz version of fresh lemon-flavored sardines to this one. I saved the olive oil, which was quite rich and am looking forward to dressing it up with some vinegar and using it as a salad dressing later in the week. Overall, I’d give these a 3.5/5.

One of my favorite flavored tins from King Oscar – the lemon flavor is strong, and really brightens up the fish. The fish themselves are delicate, delicious, and so easy to eat. Very reasonably priced, and will definitely be stocking up on these as an easy-to-grab snack in my pantry!
